Meeting, listening to, and talking with so many of our fellow veterans of World War II during this Memorial dedication, was an experience I will never forget. Without exception, that strong dedication, unity, belief, and love of our country was expressed in so many ways. Like seeing the faces of my fellow veterans while the playing of our National Anthem and God Bless America...standing at attention, giving the hand salute with misty eyes, and shaking hands. Often, during the few days that we attended the ceremonies at the "Salute to WWII Veterans" at the MCI Center, at the "Dedication Ceremonies," and finally at the beautiful Memorial itself, our thoughts went back to some of those desperate, painful, and also exciting, and even wonderful days we lived a lifetime ago - and we remembered our friends and comrades who never came home...

Over 400,000 Americans paid the supreme sacrifice in WWII. Each gold star reflected on the above pond represents one hundred of those who died.                                                                                                                                                            Photos by Pow News
